Meet Our Dental Staff
Janie Anez
Janie, a registered dental assistant for 21 years, is Dr. Boyd's assistant and right hand. Janie has certification in radiology, nitrous oxide, and CPR and also is OSHA certified. She values the personal friendships and relationships she has developed with patients throughout the years. Aesthetic dentistry is the most rewarding aspect of her career because of the confidence a beautiful smile can bring to a patient.
Barbara Cordell
Barbara earned her dental hygiene degree through Wharton County Junior College, Wharton, Texas in 1996. Barbara enjoys working in the dental field and takes pride in her work. Barbara has 30 years experience in all aspects of the dental field. She is pit and fissure sealant certified, nitrous oxide and CPR certified. Barbara is especially devoted to periodontal health and tissue management in order to maintain good oral health.
Barbara is a mother of two adult children, a daughter and a son. She is a proud grandmother of 5 precious grandchildren. In her spare time, Barbara enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends. Barbara is also a member of First Baptist Church of Houston.
Martha Jaramillo
With more than 15 years of dental experience, Martha Jaramillo, Dr. Carpenter's assistant, is dedicated to ensuring patients comfort. Her warm sense of humor helps even very anxious patients relax. Martha is bilingual, which allows us to communicate and serve many Spanish-speaking patients. Away from the office, she spends as much time as she can with her son and daughter and is very active in her church.
Annette Schmidt
Annette, our front office patient co-coordinator, has been with our practice since 2001. She manages accounts payable and helps with public relations for the office. With more than 30 years of experience in the medical and dental fields, Annette has enjoyed getting to know our patients and contributing to their beautiful smiles. A native of Houston, Annette loves tennis, golf, gardening and snow skiing. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two grown children.
MaryAnn Castillo
A native of Houston, MaryAnn graduated from Texas College of Medical and Dental Careers and has been in the dental field for over 20 years. She earned OSHA and CPR certification, as well. MaryAnn joined Dr. Boyd’s team in 2008, and her experience is very beneficial to both our staff and our patients.
In her free time, she enjoys time with her husband and young daughter, an enthusiastic Girl Scout. In addition, MaryAnn has two adult children whom she is very proud of. She also likes playing tennis, watching movies, and dining out.
Gwen Roelfson
Our office manager, Gwen, has worked in dentistry for over 30 years. She’s been in our office since 2007, but worked with Dr. Boyd earlier in their careers. Gwen appreciates our team’s dedication to excellent clinical care and customer service. She takes great joy in knowing that she comes to work each day to improve the lives of our patients, her neighbors and friends.
As a single mother of two and grandmother of three, Gwen loves spending time with her family. She has a 12-year-old Yorkie who also makes great company at home. For hobbies, Gwen enjoys shopping, gardening, dining out, and watching movies.
Christine Jenkins
A dental hygienist, Christine earned her degree at University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston after completing undergraduate studies at Brazosport College. She volunteers at other dental offices and has a sincere passion for helping people. Christine excels in the clinical side of hygiene and also in educating patients on how to maximize oral health. She loves working for such a close-knit and dedicated team of professionals.
When she’s away from the office, Christine enjoys spending time in the kitchen testing out new recipes. She also likes gardening and looks forward to starting a new hobby, bicycling around her neighborhood. Christine (and her Labradoodle) are excited about her engagement and upcoming wedding. too!
